A Randomized, Double-blind, Placebo-controlled, Parallel-group, Multi-center Study to Compare the Efficacy and Safety of Ulinastatin versus Placebo in Subjects with Moderately Severe or Severe Acute Pancreatitis.

Sites targeted for this feasibility assessment were medical centers and sites located in India, Denmark, Greece, United Kingdom and United States.

Acute Pancreatitis

Acute pancreatitis is inflammation of the pancreas, usually accompanied by abdominal pain known as pancreatitis pain and elevations of serum pancreatic enzymes. acute pancreatitis may lead to chronic pancreatitis.

The most common causes of acute pancreatitis are gallstones, heavy alcohol use followed by viral, malignancy, metabolic, ischaemia, direct trauma, smoking and certain medications.
